I love my city! In my hometown of San Francisco, the California Supreme Court just over-turned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage, reports Yahoo News. I know this isn’t exactly my usual gossip, but I feel like the fact that gay and lesbian couples can now tie the knot in the biggest state in the U.S. is much more exciting news than the latest celeb pregnancy or engagement rumor. Who knows, maybe the next rumor will be about one of Hollywood’s same-sex couples.

Anyway, the justices ruled 4-3 (so close) that domestic partnership is not a good enough substitute for marriage. Crowds of supporters celebrated outside the courthouse as the news spread. I can totally picture it — I lived in San Francisco in 2004 when Mayor Gavin Newsom allowed gay marriages at City Hall for about a month until the court stopped it. It was a beautiful thing to witness, love was in the air. I don’t mean to push my own beliefs on to any of you, but today is a day of celebration for the GLBT community and supporters of same-sex marriage. Even though there’s still a long way to go in the fight for equal rights, this is definitely a very big step in the right direction. What do you guys think?
